Rioja Vega Gran Reserva 2005, D.O.Ca. Rioja’s institutional wine

April 2014. Rioja Vega Gran Reserva 2005 will represent the D.O.Ca. Rioja at institutional events to be held this year in Spain and abroad.

The wines receiving this honour have been chosen in a blind tasting by an official tasting panel of the D. O. Ca. Rioja consisting of 12 experts. On this occasion, the wines presented in the different categories have been a total of 155, a significantly higher number than in previous years.

In the Gran Reserva category, the wine that has stood out is the brand new Rioja Vega Gran Reserva 2005.

Rioja Vega releases only exceptional vintages of its Gran Reserva. It is a wine of limited production made from purely Tempranillo grapes. It shows a gleaming deep red plum colour. The powerful and complex bouquet displays an elegant expression of the grape variety, black fruit and spices. The palate has a great ripe tannic structure. It is flavourful, balanced and very long.

Rioja Vega wines have received many awards, among others from prestigious international competitions, as are the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and the International Wine Challenge, along with exceptional ratings and critics from The Wine Advocate and The Independent on Sunday, to name but a few.

Rioja Vega has become a benchmark for quality and unique style in Spain and abroad. Founded before the Denomination of Origin was created, Rioja Vega gathers over 130 years of history, experience and dedication in search for the highest quality possible.
