Rioja Vega Reserva 2008, 91 PARKER POINTS

January 2014. Rioja Vega Reserva 2008 receives 91 Parker Points.

Worldwide renowned and influential wine critic Robert Parker granted Rioja Vega Reserva 2008 91 Points in December, after a tasting which Parker’s collaborator for Spanish wines, Luis Gutiérrez, carried out at D.O.Ca. Rioja’s Regulatory Council last September 2013.

Gutiérrez writes on The Wine Advocate’s website: “… It has some oak aromas, with notes of smoke and dill intermixed with aromas of violets and a herbaceous touch. The medium bodied palate reveals high acidity, purity of flavors and a persistent finish, with a little bit of tannin hanging in there. This should age with style”. To further add about Rioja Vega wines: “… Very clean, well-made and consistent wines that are highly recommended”.

This is not the first time that Parker grants Rioja Vega Reserva a high rating, as the vintage 2006 already got 90 points. However, that a later vintage of the same wine receives 91 points is a symbol for Rioja Vega’s constant quest for improvement.

This philosophy has pushed quality levels up to the maximum along Rioja Vega’s 130 years of history. An effort which has earned its wines many prizes, such as the Gold Medal achieved by Rioja Vega Reserva 2008 at the International Wine Challenge in 2013, and positive critics from the domestic and international press.
