A
River of Aromas
Very ripe fruit, blackberries, raspberries, liquorice.
Fragrances of wild herbs such as fennel, thyme and lavender.
And cinnamon, and vanilla, and spices.
A river of primary aromas flows out of Muerza reflected in an impeccable
dark cherry red which bursts into the mouth, strong, unctuous and ample,
with the sweetness and ripeness of its noble tannins. Elegance without
sharp edges, youth with body.
Such richness of nuances is not by chance. The Tempranillo, Graciano,
Mazuelo and Garnacha vines planted in our estate at La Venta del Jalón
benefit from chalky-clay, stony soils, facing north, at an altitude between
350 and 450 metres. The growth cycle is closely monitored with sensors
that provide real-time information on rainfall, humidity, temperature,
growth and water stress. This, together with a painstaking layout, ensures
a much more organic agriculture.
At harvest time, only 4,200 kilos of grapes are obtained from each hectare,
low productivity figures which result in superior quality. After undergoing
alcoholic fermentation for eight days, followed by maceration during a
further twenty-two days, with daily overpumpings and two complete delestrages,
the wine was barrelled, allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation and
stirred every two days. Three different types of French and American oak
wood were used for the casks, to achieve greater complexity. After six
months ageing in casks, the wine was bottled and allowed to rest
to achieve its final roundness.
Thus is the Muerza Vendimia Seleccionada.
Very ripe fruit, blackberries, raspberries, liquorice...
A wide river of aromas full of suggestions.
Fennel, thyme, lavender, herbs, a river that flows,
cinnamon, vanilla and spices,
and opens up.
