Elegance and freshness perfectly describe the Rioja Vega 1882 rosé wine. Pale in color, the winery has chosen the Garnacha Tinta variety to craft it.
This century-old winery focuses on highlighting the identity of Garnacha Tinta, a Mediterranean variety of Spanish origin that in the vineyards of Rioja Vega recovers the value of its origins: a versatile variety full of nuances. A grape with body and complexity in its aromas and flavors.
In the words of its creator, winemaker Esperanza Elías: “Rioja Vega 1882 Rosé is an elegant and sophisticated wine. A delightful choice for special occasions.” She adds, “It is a very versatile wine when it comes to food pairings” and affirms, “Respecting its personality and uniqueness is evident in the charm of its fruity aromas and fullness on the palate.”
Winemaking of Rioja Vega 1882
This new rosé wine has been made using the “draining” technique, where there is minimal maceration due to the very brief contact with the skins. The must is extracted through static draining of the grapes, with no applied pressure.
The early morning harvest, coupled with the few minutes between picking and the first draining of the must, helps preserve the freshness and floral character of the wine.
Rioja Vega states that its goal is “to continue the tradition of making great Rioja wines: focusing on the identity of varieties from small plots in our region, leading to new expressions in an original and high-quality rosé wine. After all, over 140 years of history allow Rioja Vega to maintain its classic line while still appealing to the most demanding audience.”
Finca La Real, the Vineyard
Finca ‘La Real’ is the vineyard where the grapes for this wine are grown. It covers 2.6 hectares of Garnacha Tinta at 370 meters altitude, with soils that are a mix between loam and sandy-loam, which favor elegant and aromatic wines.
Tasting Note
The result is a crystalline rosé, very bright with subtle tones, ranging from pale pink to light salmon. On the nose, it is a delicate wine with aromas of white flowers, with elegant notes of aniseed and fennel in the background.
On the palate, it is balanced and smooth, with a spicy fresh finish and good aromatic persistence. A refreshing and elegant option for wine lovers.
