Rioja Vega Colección Tempranillo Rosado 2017 receives 90 points from the Global Rosé Masters international wine contest, organized by The Drinks Business magazine.
It takes a distinctive and exceptional feature for a wine to achieve such a high rating when thousands of rosés from around the world are tasted by the jury of the Global Rosé Masters. In addition, The Drinks Business is a leader in Great Britain for the quality of the information and the wide diversity of topics it tackles every month, as well as for assessing and publishing about the best wines in the world.
For Rioja Vega, the secret to success is simple: Wines are made on the vineyard. Therefore, the special quality of the Rioja Vega Colección Tempranillo Rosado 2017 is that it reflects the vineyards of Tempranillo Tinta and Tempranillo Blanca that give the grapes for this wine. Two noble varietals capable of producing high-quality wines, and an unusual blend in Rioja when put together to make this original rosé.
The winemaking further distinguishes this wine from the traditional saignée rosés. Unlike these, the grapes for the Rioja Vega Colección Tempranillo Rosado are not kept in contact with the skins, which explains its pale pink colour. Yet this is an intense and complex wine, full of fresh red fruit flavours and notes of flowers, with a pleasant acidity that makes it elegant and subtle.
This amazing limited-production rosé has deserved important awards, for example, it was chosen by the emblematic El País newspaper among the 10 Best Rosés from Spain.
